If you’re looking for halal Mexican food in Atlanta, this is one of my absolute favorite spots. Every friend and family member I know has been brought here at least once, that’s how much I love it!
Is Talkin’ Tacos Halal?
Yes! Talkin’ Tacos is halal certified. They display their halal certification paperwork right at the entrance, which is honestly so comforting to see. For Muslims looking for trustworthy halal restaurants in Atlanta, this is a huge plus.
They specialize in everything birria-style Mexican food, from tacos and grilled cheese to ramen and even pizza.
They also have locations in:
- Florida
- Washington, DC
- New York
- North Carolina
- Texas
This review focuses on the Atlanta (Buckhead) location, since it’s the only one I’ve personally visited.
The Vibe & Atmosphere
Yall… this place is a vibe!
The inside is super cute and trendy, especially when the neon lights come on. There are plenty of photo spots, making it a fun place to:
- Go out with friends
- Have a casual date night (preferably halal like the food :))
- Get content for social media
You order at a kiosk, which makes the process quick and easy.

Now lets get into what you came for, here’s what I ordered:
1. Birria Grilled Cheese (10/10) 🥪

First things first, this is my usual order and the main reason I keep coming back. It comes with fries and a creamy tomato soup! Do y’all see how thick it is???!!!!
The birria was moist and flavorful. The cheese was super melty, and the bread was perfectly crisp on the outside while staying soft inside.
It’s extremely filling as well, I get full after just a couple of bites every time.
The tomato soup really ties everything together. Easily a 10/10 for me.
2. Birria Tacos (5/10) 🌮

Of course, I couldn’t come here and not try the actual birria tacos.
The inside was flavorful, especially dipped in consommé. However, the taco shell was a bit too starchy and harsh for me, which slightly took away from the experience.
Still good, just not my favorite item on the menu to be honest.
3. Jarritos (8/10) 🍾

To drink, I washed everything down with jarritos. Now if I see Jarritos on a menu, I’m ordering it. It’s not a matter of if I’ll get it, but which flavor.
I usually go for pineapple or guava, but this time I tried watermelon and my friend got mandarin. It was refreshing, though I’ll probably stick to my usual flavors next time.
Oreo Churros (6/10)
If you’re like me, you need something sweet after a savory meal. And that’s just what I did with these churros topped with oreo crumbs and glaze. They satisfied the sweet craving, but they were just okay. I’d rate them a 6/10.

There used to be an ice cream shop next door (which would’ve been perfect), but unfortunately it closed, so this had to do.
Overall Rating: 9/10
Talkin’ Tacos in Atlanta is one of my go-to halal Mexican spots. The birria grilled cheese alone keeps me coming back.
If you’re in Atlanta and looking for halal tacos, this place is definitely worth trying.
